REI Labor Day Sale: Epic Deals on Outdoor Gear

REI’s Labor Day Sale runs through Sept. 4, and it’s the perfect time to save on seasonal gear from top brands. This REI sale is the annual clearance, so if you see something you like, grab it. Inventories will dwindle as the sale progresses.

Waterproof, breathable, and windproof up to 60 mph, the Rainier jacket uses REI Co-op’s Peak 2.5-layer recycled ripstop nylon shell. It’s designed with big pit zips to dump heat, a DWR treatment, a weatherproof front zipper, and adjustable cuffs for further keeping out the elements.

The three-piece hood lets you tweak and tune the fit, and tucks away into the collar when not needed. Lastly, it has 2 zippered hand pockets in front and two internal drop-in pockets for stashing a smartphone, map, or other necessities.

Our GearJunkie review called the Raptor II trail running shoes “a monster on the mountain,” and the same mix of protection and grippy rubber outsoles are present in these waterproof/breathable hiking boots. Beyond the liner, the uppers are mesh and reinforced with a TPU lacing harness for a flexible but secure fit.

The brand’s midsole tech aims for cushion with added bounce in your steps, and an outsole that includes an Impact Brake System and heel traction to navigate steep, uneven terrain.

These zero-drop trail-running shoes have established a reputation over the years. Altra’s 7th iteration has a more streamlined construction, energy-return foam midsoles, yet boast the same grippy outsoles and protective rock plates customers have come to expect. The uppers are made from fast-drying mesh.

The Lone Peak 7 shoes even received the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) Seal of Acceptance for promoting good foot health.

These baselayer tights are made from a soft polyester blend to wick sweat and dry fast. The use of Spandex in its construction adds to the four-way stretch of the fabric.

For comfort, REI used a flat seam construction, a low-profile waistband, and a gusseted crotch.

According to REI, a simple design with touches of technical materials lets this long-sleeve, semi-fitted baselayer flex with you and keep dry. The crew uses a wicking, quick-drying polyester that resists snags and stretches four ways. Underarm gussets, a lower back hem, and UPF 50+ sun protection round out its technical chops.

Forget the bare-bones cots you’re used to. The REI Kingdom Cot 3 offers cushioned support with room and a contoured surface that works to help you stay nestled in place.

The frame combines a mix of aluminum and steel tubing for strength, powder-coated for protection over time. Oversized feet support the frame while adding stability and perhaps some protection for your tent floor. The quilted top is made from a polyester that dries fast and resists water.

At 3 oz., this squeeze water filter is worth its weight in water protection. To get clean water, you fill a pouch with water and squeeze it into your mouth.

The hollow-fiber membrane filter removes 99.99999% of all bacteria — such as salmonella, cholera, and E.coli — and 99.9999% of all protozoa, including giardia and cryptosporidia.

Included in this update of the original filter are two 32 fl. oz. pouches, a cleaning coupling, and attachments for inline and gravity use.

This mesh racerback has a tight-fitting design with a scoop neck. The single interlock fabric comprises 89% recycled polyester and 11% elastane to provide a softer feel against the skin.

It uses moisture-absorbing tech to move sweat out from underneath, and a breathable mesh fabric for greater airflow.

Eureka’s Ignite remains one of GearJunkie’s top picks for camp stoves. It boasts twin 10,000 BTU burners that go from a light simmer to full output via its two-turn simmer control for fine-tuning the flame.

There’s room on top for two 12-inch pans and a stainless steel drip tray. It has push-button ignition, nonslip rubber feet, and secures with metal latches.

Protect your payload from the elements with these rear-rack waterproof bike panniers. Each has a roll-top closure and coated polyester fabric for keeping rain and road spray on the outside. They have a combined capacity of 40 liters and fit up to 16mm tube diameters (with reduction adapters down to 8 mm).

The SkyBox has a flat-bottom interior for usable space as well as tie-down points. Yakima emphasized the hatch clearance and included a metal latch on each side for easier access. The latches come with SKS locks to secure your gear.

It should fit most crossbars and comes with a removable torque-limiting knob to install it tight without over-tightening.
